Butterflow (Web Version)

"Butterflow" is a small side-scroller arcade game inspired by Flappy Bird

[Controls] (PC only)

• Space - To flop the wings and get away from the ground
• Shift - To plane, to stay still in the air as much as possible
• Left Control  - ? (Try it yourself)

Backstory:

I was always scared of learning a video game engine but wanted to make games. So last year I decided to learn Unity inspired by Game Maker's Toolkit series on the topic, where he makes a simple game inspired by Flappy Bird in order to show the basics of the engine. 

At the end of the series he offers us to build upon the mechanics, make our own art, etc. So I made my own take on the game, making a nature-inspired theme with a butterfly that collects pollen and tries to avoid colliding with plants on her way to gather more polen from flowers.

I wanted to avoid the stressfulness of the original Flappy Bird, so I chose to make a more natural and floaty jump and avoided having obstacles hanging from the upper side(although some of them where planned for more advanced levels) and decided to not punish the player for not collecting all the point as this was not always posible with the generative nature of the levels. 

I made my own vector art & animations, composed the music soundtrack & sound effects. Also I made changes in the movement and added planning as a slow-down mechanic.
